The Trio

Greg Schlimm - Guitar

Greg Schlimm’s musical experiences began when he obsessively wore out his family's vinyl 45s on a folding record player. After tapping his big brother Al for many guitar mini-lessons and mix tapes, he studied music theory and guitar as a music minor at Loyola College in Maryland, where he performed in multiple chamber groups, a classical guitar duo and the school’s big band.
During the 90s he played in a few small jazz groups and held a steady gig with the eclectic Baltimore acoustic trio The Dilettantes, led by talented singer-songwriter Jennifer Camp. After moving to Seattle in 1999, he started a jazz and acoustic duo collaboration with composer and guitarist Clark Grogan.
In recent years Greg has devoted more of my time to composition. In 2008 he earned a certificate in film music from the Pacific Northwest Film Scoring Program, led by composers Hummie Mann and Tim Huling. Continuing his studies in Tim Huling’s Composition Lab, he wrote a chamber music piece for strings, clarinet and percussion that was performed at Seattle's Good Shepherd Center. Two of Greg’s jazz compositions for 9-piece ensemble have also been performed and recorded at Tula's Jazz Lounge in downtown Seattle.

Richard Rodseth - Piano

Richard Rodseth grew up in Pretoria, South Africa, where his mother teaches singing and piano. Since settling in Seattle, he has studied jazz piano with Randy Halberstadt, Dawn Clement, Eric Verlinde and others, attended Centrum's Jazz Port Townsend workshop, and also studied ensemble playing with Portland bassist David Friesen and trombonist Chris Stover.

Richard takes full advantage of Seattle's fantastic live music offerings, and enjoys sitting in at weekly jam sessions. He has performed with trios and singers at smaller venues in Seattle, as well as at the Paramount Theatre. Admittedly, that was in the bar.

An enthusiastic composer, Richard has written numerous tunes he is proud of, and as a participant in Tim Huling's Composition Lab, he completed one slightly longer work for a 10-piece jazz band, which performed it at Tula's jazz club.

Richard loves the shared experience of live music, and has hosted memorable house concerts featuring great artists like Jessica Williams, Jovino Santos Neto, William Chapman Nyaho and Josephine Howell.
